KidsFirst Learning Center is a weekday program designed to enhance your child’s spiritual, mental, social, and physical development with enrichment opportunities at affordable rates.
Our Goal: Provide families with quality Christian childcare in a safe and fun learning environment for children.
Hours of Operation: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, not including holidays.
Who We Serve: Preschoolers (age 6 weeks to 5 years old), and K-6 students who attend Middleburg Elementary or Shadowlawn Elementary Schools. Program License: By the Department of Children and Families through the state of Florida.

Curriculum Lesson plans are developed using the WEE Learn Curriculum & Florida’s Early Learning & Developmental Standards in conjunction with supplemental materials.

  • Developmentally solid, age-appropriate and Christ centered.
  • Children participate in indoor/outdoor activities, alternate active and quiet play, along with snack and rest times.
  • Classes explore Bible verses/stories, music and science, as well as an introduction to letters/sounds, numbers, colors, and shapes.

Preschoolers Full-time care options are available (age 6 weeks to 5 years old), as well as wrap-around care for VPK students who attend KidsFirst. Part-time care is only available on a limited basis for 3-year-olds (8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.). Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)

  • A state-funded program for four-year-olds to prepare students for Kindergarten.
  • Students must be four by September 1st to participate.
  • Parents need to contact Episcopal Children’s Services at ecs4kids.org or 904-726-1500 to obtain an Eligibility Form for submission. The Eligibility Form verifies that the child is a resident of Florida and will be four by September 1st.
  • VPK classes for KidsFirst are Monday – Thursday from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Achievers School-Age Care

  • The Achievers Program is a before and after school program for students in elementary school who need care before and after school, as well as most school holidays.
  • Transportation is available for students who attend Middleburg Elementary and Shadowlawn Elementary.
  • Achievers are given the opportunity to have a snack, do homework, participate in outdoor and indoor active play.
  • “Summer Fun Camp” is an option during the summer break for K-6 students that includes a weekly water day, field trips and daily enrichment activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do you accept VPK registrations? The annual registration period for VPK opens the last week in February for those who currently attend the center. Open enrollment for the public is during on the first Monday in March. Students registering for VPK must be four by September 1st of the starting year to participate. Parents need to contact Episcopal Children’s Services at www.ecs4kids.org or 904-726-1500 to obtain an Eligibility Form for submission. The Eligibility Form verifies that the child is a resident of Florida and will be four by September 1st.
What are the center’s enrollment requirements? ALL children to be enrolled at KFLC are required to have a current Florida immunization record (form 680) and physical (form 3040) on file. VPK students must also obtain an Eligibility Form from Episcopal Children’s Services to verify the child’s Florida residency and that he/she will be four by September 1st.
How do I get my child(ren) on the waiting list? To be added to the center’s waiting list, families must schedule a tour, Monday through Thursday between 9:30 a.m. and noon. At the end of the tour, parents are given a short waiting list form to complete.

Are meals & snacks provided by the center? No, KFLC is a “Ready to Eat” center, which means daily lunches and morning/afternoon snacks are provided by parents/guardians and sent ready to eat from a lunch box. Classes are not equipped with microwaves or refrigerators. If you want your child to have a warm meal, a thermos can be used for soups or “ravioli” type lunches.
